Taiyo Yuden Announces AAD600S Power Supplies

August 31, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Taiyo Yuden (USA) Inc. (Schaumburg, IL) announced its new AAD600S, the latest addition to the its AAD Series of 1U-high, switch-mode power supplies. The AAD600S provides a single, isolated (floating) output of up to 600 W continuous power, correcting the input-current waveform to better than 99-percent power factor at the supply's full rated load. Several factory-set output voltages/currents may be selected, including 12 V/42 A, 15 V/36 A, 24 V/22 A, 28 V/20 A, 36 V/16 A, and 48 V/12.5 A.

Providing operating efficiencies of up to 92 percent, standard features include remote sense, remote on/off, DCOK, single-wire current share, and power-fail signal. Several different connector choices are available for "hot-swap" capability. Other standard options include OR-ing diodes, droop current share, 5 Vdc at 1 A standby output, and inverted control signals.

Manufactured in the company's ISO9001-certified facilities in North America, the AAD600S is suitable for telecom, process control, and other typical single-output OEM applications, measuring 9.0 in x 4.0 in x 1.59 in (228.6 mm x 101.6 mm x 40.4 mm). The single-output configuration allows the unit's full current rating to be applied to a single-output voltage, versus "diluting" the unit's total rated power among multiple outputs.

Available now, the AAD600S power supply is priced at $165 in OEM quantities. Delivery is in 8 to 12 weeks ARO.
