SynQor Adds PQ60120EGL07 to Giga Eighth-Brick Family

October 18, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor Inc. (Boxborough, MA) announced an extension to its Giga family of eighth-brick dc-dc converters with the addition of a 75 W/12 V output device. The new PQ60120EGL07 converter is capable of delivering up to 6.25 A of output current and is suited to power downstream point-of-load (POL) converters in intermediate bus architecture (IBA) applications. The PQ60120EGL07 converter uses synchronous rectification and SynQor's patented topology to achieve high efficiency, low power dissipation, and high reliability, in a single board, open-frame package with industry-standard pin out and footprint.

Covering the full telecom input-voltage range of 35 V to 75 V, and operating at an efficiency of 91 percent, the open-frame device can supply its full rated output current of 6.25 A up to 55 °C ambient with just 200 LFM (1 m/s) of forced air-cooling. The performance level enables it to be used in applications where previously only quarter-brick packages could meet the power requirements. The device is capable of withstanding input transients of up to 100 V/100 msec, and incorporates basic isolation from input to output of 2,000 Vdc. Control and protection features include remote sense, input under-voltage lockout, output-voltage trim of +10 percent/-20 percent, output over-voltage protection, current limit, short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown.

Sample and production quantities are available now with a stock to eight-week lead time. The modules are priced at $42.30 in OEM quantities.
