STMicroelectronics Offers LNBH21 Power Supply Control IC

October 07, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

STMicroelectronics Inc. (ST, Geneva, Switzerland) introduced a new power supply and control IC for the low noise blockers (LNBs) used in set-top boxes and integrated digital televisions. The LNBH21 includes a step-up voltage converter that works from a single input voltage of between 8 V and 15 V, simplifying system design. The converter is typically 94% efficient at a 750 mA load.

The LNBH21 also keeps the voltage drop on the internal linear regulator to a typical 2.2 V, as compared with the 3.4 V of previous models, reducing the power dissipation to 1.1 W at 500 mA load. It supports two output currents, of 450 mA and 750 mA, and has an ESD rating of 4 kV on the power output pins.

Pricing is $1.25S in quantities of 1,000.
