StarTech.com Launches New "WattSmart" Power Supplies
StarTech.com, a manufacturer of hard-to-find connectivity and technology parts, announced the launch of their new high-efficiency WattSmart Power Supply line. Certified as compliant with energy-minded 80 PLUS® standards, WattSmart power supplies will initially include 650, 750 and 850W models.
"Based on obvious environmental concerns, the IT industry is gradually transitioning towards computer systems that utilize less power, or at least use power more efficiently", stated Carey Cline, Product Manager for StarTech.com. "The WattSmart power supplies offer two-fold value, in that they provide excellent energy efficiency and in turn reduce operating costs. With the recent onset of more rigid environmental standards, system builders will benefit from the ability to more easily meet energy requirements, while computer users can save on their energy bill and have the peace of mind of knowing that they are contributing to the global movement to conserve power."
Aside from what the company describes as the power and cost savings in advanced server and desktop applications, the power supplies are also compliant with SLi ready requirements, and are therefore said to suitably balance efficiency and performance to provide the power needed for high-end graphic usage as well as gaming.
WattSmart Power Supplies also offer the following features: high performance components designed for extra long life span and optimized system performance; EP12V Ver. 2.91 form factor with quad 12V rails; two dual ball bearing 80mm fans for enhanced cooling and extended life span; and active Power Factor Correction.
The following WattSmart EPS12V Ver 2.91 80PLUS® Power Supplies are now available: the EPSPOW650PRO (650W) – with an MSRP of $164.99; the EPSPOW750PRO (750W) – with an MSRP of $189.99; and the EPSPOW850PRO (850W) – with an MSRP of $204.99.
