Stackpole Intros SMX Series SMT Metal-Oxide Resistors
Stackpole Electronics Inc. (SEI, Raleigh, NC) introduced a molded surface-mount, metal-oxide resistor technology that features power ratings up to 3 W. The SMX Series resistors help convert more of the through-hole devices on circuit boards to surface-mount components. The SMX Series of resistors are expected to find acceptance in a wide range of automotive, computer, power supply, telecommunications, industrial, and instrumentation applications.
The new SMX power resistors are direct replacements for axial-leaded resistors. The SMX Series is available with resistance values from 3 kΩ to 1 MΩ in tolerances of ±5 percent, with TCRs of ±200 ppm/°C. The operating temperature is specified from -50 °C to +150 °C, and the maximum pulse voltage is 800 V. The SMX Series also employs a unique J-lead termination, which provides thermal coefficient of expansion ratio matching.
Pricing for the new SMX resistors is $0.25 each in production quantities, with lead times from six weeks, and samples available in four to six weeks.
