Sprague-Goodman Intros New FILMTRIM Capacitors

March 03, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Sprague-Goodman Electronics Inc. (Westbury, NY) announced that its compact, low-profile, surface-mount FILMTRIM® plastic dielectric trimmer capacitors are now available in nonmagnetic versions. Suitable for any application requiring a nonmagnetic trimmer capacitor, the new series offers four capacitance ranges from 0.5pF to 4.5pF, to 1pF to 20pF.

Measuring 6.8mm x 5.4mm x 2.6mm, the devices are claimed to be smaller than comparable lead-through-hole models. The capacitors are manufactured with nonferrous parts and platings so that they have a maximum relative permeability of obly 1.0025. The dielectric used is PTFE film. The quality factor is greater than 1,000 when measured at 10MHz. The operating temperature is -25°C to +85°C.

Pricing for the 0.5pF to 4.5pF version is $0.46 each. Lead time for production quantities is 12 weeks.
