SL Power Announces 12W External Power Family

September 27, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

SL Power Electronics Corp. is introducing a new 12W family of external switch-mode power supplies that are the second in the Energy Star offering. Well-suited for telecommunications, broadband, industrial and computer peripheral applications, the PW149 single output series is available in a desktop style up to12W in 9, 12, 15, 18, 24, 33 and 48V models.

"OEMs can replace a host of linear power supplies with a single switch-mode unit that can be used globally to power their products," said Greg Harris, Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, SL Power Electronics Corp. "And because it meets Energy Star requirements, the new switch-mode power supply family increases energy efficiency in the process."

As an Energy Star partner, SL Power Electronics Corp. launched the specification for Energy Star qualified external power adapters in January 2005 to address the growing energy use from a proliferation of consumer and office electronic products with power adapters. External power adapters that meet Energy Star requirements are an estimated 35% more efficient than conventional models. To help reduce OEM product design-to-production cycle time, the CE-compliant PW149 meets UL60950, CSA60950, EN60950 and GB4943. In addition, the efficiency level meets Energy Star and EU-COC guidelines.

All PW149 models have low output ripple and a one-year warranty. SL Power Electronics also offers modified and custom designs to meet specific OEM requirements and private label marking. The PW149 series is a low-cost option for leading OEMs in the data communications, telecommunications, or ITE markets. Competitively priced at under $6.70 in quantities of 1,000, the PW149 gives users added versatility because it is available in seven voltage models.
