SiGe Semi Intros SE1052W/SE1250L Amplifiers
SiGe Semiconductor Inc. (Canada) announced that it has added the SE1052W transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and the SE1250L limiting amplifier to its LightCharger Series of optical interface components, which are targeted for use in fiber-optic modules used in equipment supporting SONET/SDH, OC-192, STM-64, Fibre Channel and 10GbE. The TIA can be used directly with the SE1250L and addresses the requirement for data communications equipment operating at 3.3V. Both are claimed to be capable of achieving the performance of GaAs or InP devices, while reducing costs and power dissipation.
The SE1052W is a fully integrated 10Gbps/12.5Gbps TIA offering a dynamic range of -22dBm to 1dBm, and 3.7 kiloohms of differential transimpedance. The device supports a current load of 2.6mA and has an input noise density of 10pA/sqrt-Hz. It is capable of swinging up to 300mVpp into a 100-ohm load and provides sufficient drive for a post amplifier or direct input into a serdes. The SE1052W has a power dissipation of 180mW.
The SE1250L is a 10Gbps/12.5Gbps limiting amplifier with a 15GHz bandwidth - enough to prevent TIA bandwidth roll-off. The device also features a small signal gain of 33dB differential and a noise figure <12dB. It dissipates 120mW of power. Both devices operate using a single 3.3V supply, and are configured for fully differential outputs.
