Schaefer Introduces Power Supplies for Photonics Applications

November 21, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Schaefer, Inc. announced application specific solutions for supplying the distinct power needs of the photonics industry, including laser and high-pressure mercury lamp requirements. Photonics applications typically require the power supply to provide extremely stable voltages under diverse conditions, significant surge ratings during start-up cycles and controlled energy storage. Schaefer power supplies are available in power ratings from 10's to 100's of kilowatts. They offer over an extremely wide input range, ensuring that source fluctuations do not affect operation and can handle demanding load surge requirements with virtually no voltage drop.

Schaefer's rugged, yet lightweight, designs feature what the company claims are some of the industry's highest power densities, with either air or water cooling options, ensuring a fit for even the most space critical high power applications or the most demanding environmental conditions. Hermetically sealed solutions are also available. Standard features also include electronic inrush to protect the source and high efficiency for lowest cost of ownership. Mechanical and electrical modifications to standard products, as well as fully custom solutions to suit specific application needs, are welcomed with low or no NRE costs.
