Pulse Intros CX2024, CX2078 and CX2081 Transformers

June 16, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Pulse Engineering Inc. (San Diego, CA) announced the availability of its new radio frequency (RF) balun transformers, models CX2024, CX2078 and CX2081, which provide low insertion loss, wide bandwidth and excellent return loss with industry-standard footprints. The transformers match a balanced to an unbalanced circuit. Various impedance ratios are available.

The balun transformers couple an RF signal from a single-ended source such as a coaxial cable or an antenna to a differential source such as an amplifier input or output. With their small footprint, the new Pulse line is suitable for a wide range of applications, including cable television distribution equipment, set-top boxes, cellular base stations and residential gateways. The parts feature wound, magnetic core construction for wideband operation, a low profile of 0.140in maximum, and are compatible with pick-and-place manufacturing equipment. The transformers offer an impedance ratio of 1-to-1 for models CX2024 and CX2078, and 1-to-1.5 for model CX2081. Operating temperatures are from -40 to +85 degrees C.

The new CX2078, CX2081 and CX2024 RF balun transformer models are currently available in trays or tape-and-reel packaging, with prices starting at $0.95 per unit in quantities of 1,000. Lead time is four to six weeks. Volume discounts are available.
