POWERVAR Launches ONEAC SLIMtec Power Filter

POWERVAR, Inc. has launched the ONEAC SLIMtec Power Filter for the digital signage market. While digital signage is one of the newest forms of communication it is subject to the oldest threat – transients caused by electrical line noise that can degrade, disrupt and even destroy its sensitive electronic components. To assure the reliability of digital signage equipment, POWERVAR, today introduced the ONEAC SLIMtec™ 5A Power Filter.

The ONEAC SLIMtec’s advanced design combines the benefits of filter technology and surge suppression to provide an extra level of protection beyond a traditional TVSS alone. Ultracompact, easy access receptacles, and wallmountable in multiple orientations, SLIMtec fits perfectly behind the thin display screens that are increasingly being deployed in restaurants, hospitals, campuses, airports and other commercial areas. While SLIMtec’s compact design is appealing to the digital signage industry, it is also excellent for providing protection to kiosks and video monitors. Offering both power and data line protection (10BASE-T, 100BASE-T and GigE network lines), the SLIMtec is the most convenient, cost-effective power filter available today.

Randy Toth, Area Sales Manager for POWERVAR, explains why SLIMtec is needed: "As integrated circuit densities and microprocessor clocking speeds increase while simultaneously operating voltage levels decrease, digital equipment continues to become more sensitive to transients on power lines.

SLIMtec reduces IEEE C62.41 Category A pulses in both normal and common modes to less than 20 V, which is much lower than traditional TVSSs (SPDs) or RFI filters. It has a slim design and is less costly than a full power conditioned solution; making it a great fit for digital signage and kiosk applications."

According to Mr. Toth, customers suffer the symptoms of transient-related problems through software lock-ups, distorted images and garbled screen images, hardware damage and "no trouble found" service calls. Technical support costs for problem resolution can range from $50-$200 for each occurrence, while hardware damage and revenue losses can easily exceed several thousand dollars. "Understanding the level of risk for the equipment and the power quality issues it is exposed to allowed us to design the ONEAC SLIMtec to meet specific requirements of the digital signage industry."

The ONEAC SLIMtec Power Filter is UL and cUL approved and is listed under UL1449, UL497B, and 1283. The SLIMtec is available immediately.
