Power-One, Inc. announced the availability of its SFP1050-12BG, a 1050W, ac-dc front-end providing a maximum 86.7A with a 12V output. The SFP1050-12BG exceeds the efficiency requirements of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative’s Silver standard across output loads of 20 to 100%. This, plus active current sharing, make it well suited for redundant applications for datacom, server, and other distributed power applications.
Typically the SFP1050-12BG with a wide-range input from 90 to 264Vac has greater than 91% efficiency, even at 50% loads. According to the company, competitive models with efficiencies in the low 80% range only provide 850W in a comparable package. A compact 12.0 x 3.1 x 1.6" (1U) size allows for five SFP1050’s (5250W) to be placed in a single 1U, 19" rack. Ten models can be mounted on their side in a 2U, 19" rack. Blind mate connectors allow for hot swapping in live redundant systems to allow full-time power availability.
Additional features include a standby 3.3V @ 3A output, as well as I²C monitoring and control. Protections include: output overvoltage, output overcurrent, and overtemperature. The SFP1050-12BG meets international safety requirements and is CE marked to the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). Regulatory agency approvals include UL 60950-1/CSA 22.2 No. 60950-1, TUV approval to EN 60950-1, and IEC 60950-1.
Pricing is $512 each in 250-piece quantities. Evaluation models are usually available from stock, and production quantities are available in 8 to 10 weeks.
