ON Semi Intros NCP2809 Power Amplifier

ON Semiconductor Corp. (Phoenix, AZ) debuted its new NCP2809 power amplifier that delivers high-quality audio, extends battery life, and reduces external component count in cell phone, portable stereo and MP3 player audio applications.

The NCP2809 delivers 135 mW to a 16 ohm load from a 2.5 V to 5.5 V lithium-ion battery supply. The device's ultra-low shutdown current and sleep-mode features optimize power consumption for extended battery life. Power supply rejection ratio and a virtual ground between the stereo speakers eliminates the need for bulky dc-blocking output capacitors, simplifying design and reducing system cost. The device is offered with either an adjustable or fixed 0 dB gain.

The NCP2809 is offered in a Micro-10 package in two different options (adjustable or fixed 0 dB gain), and priced at $0.50 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities.
