New Solar Charge Controller From Genesun Optimized For Lithium-Ion Batteries
Genasun LLC announced its new GV-4-Li, which is said to bring high-performance maximum power point tracking to solar power systems with lithium-ion batteries. According to the company, with people increasingly interested in lightweight mobile power systems – for instance for on-location photography & filming, or camping – lithium-ion batteries are coming more into play and a suitable charge controller was due.
The new controller includes charging optimized for lithium-ion batteries, and like the GV-4 for lead-acid batteries is engineered from the ground up to maximize energy from the solar panel.
"We had customers asking for a charge controller like the GV-4 but for lithium-ion batteries" said Karen E. Robinson, Genasun President.
The charge controller is sold through BatterySpace.com, a retail store specializing in all kinds of rechargeable batteries and battery chargers. Of the GV-4-Li, John Sung of BatterySpace.com says "I really like the small footprint and light weight."
The GV-4-Li builds on Genasun’s GV product line, including the GV-4, GV-6, and GV-9 for lead-acid batteries. The GV-6 and GV-9 have long been available for lithium-ion batteries, and have been used in lithium-ion systems including 9 boat systems.
In addition to solar charge controllers, Genasun sells lightweight lithium-ion battery packs and battery management systems for robots, electric vehicles, and for systems in harsh environments.
