Modular PFC-Input Power Supply System Delivers 5000W
Absopulse Electronics' PFC5000 is a rugged, modular, ac-dc power supply system with power factor corrected (PFC) input, company officials said. Designed for applications requiring high current and high output power, this system is suitable for industrial, utility, microwave and telecom environments, they said.
The PFC5000 delivers 5kW from a 230Vac single-phase input (180 to 264Vac range). It is rated for 12V at 400A, 24V at 200A, 48V at 100A or 54V at 90A continuous duty. The power factor is corrected to a minimum of 0.98 at full load for the entire input range and is compliant to the EN61000-3-2 directive for line harmonics.
The system is comprised of five hot-insertable, plug-in modules in a 4U x 19-inch x 25-inch shelf, with each module generating 1000W. Several shelves can be connected in parallel for higher output power. Each module has a built-in redundancy diode, which enables N+1 redundancy at 4000W. This feature also makes the system suitable for battery charging. Each module also features power status indicators, a built-in fan and output fail alarm (with summary form C-alarm relay contacts).
The PFC5000 meets the requirements for EN55022 Class A electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions with a wide margin and Class B filtering is available with the addition of a filter. Combined line-and-load regulation without sensing is better than ± 1% and output ripple/noise is better than 1% of output voltage peak-to-peak. Protection includes inrush current limiting, surge protection and an internal safety fuse on each module.
The PFC5000 five-module system is priced at $5,066 in quantities of 1-4.
