Mitsumi Electric Intros MM1543 and MM1544 ICs

Mitsumi Electric Co. Ltd. (Japan) introduced the MM1543 and MM1544 lithium-ion battery protection ICs, which prevent shorting and reverse charging and are designed to operate over the -30 to +85 degrees C temperature range.

Available in TSOP-20A packaging, the MM1543 is designed for three-cell use, while the MM1544 is designed for four-cell use. Both operate from a 1.8V to 18V supply and draw 20µA (MM1543) or 22µA (MM1544). The ICs detect 4.35V of over-charge voltage and up to 2V of over-discharge voltage. Both devices are sampling at around $2.41 each.
