Microsemi Intros LX1676 VRM Power Supply Controller

Microsemi Corp. (Irvine, CA), a manufacturer of power management integrated circuits, announced a highly integrated VRM power supply controller that reduces components to cut costs for applications using AMD Mobile Athlon™ processors. Designated the LX1676™, the new integrated circuit features Microsemi's patented LoadSHARE and transient correction loop technologies that minimize costly capacitors and eliminate current sense resistors.

"In addition to being the lowest cost way to manage core power to an AMD Mobile Athlon processor, the LX1676 controller also provides a unique, highly integrated solution that can simplify design-in, reduce board space and cut the total application cost," said Kelly Jones, vice president and general manager of Microsemi Integrated Products. "It's also well-suited to control other power supplies, particularly those in the 0.925V to 2.0V range that encounter high transient loads."
