Mean Well Launches MP650 Series Switching Power Supplies

February 09, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Mean Well USA Inc. (Fremont, CA), a power supply manufacturer, launched its new MP650 Series of 650 W modular switching power supplies, which provide thousands of different output configurations. The 650 W platform can support up to 10 isolated outputs in an industry-standard footprint. Applications include general electronic usage, semiconductor fabrication equipment, hard-disc burn-in equipment, process control, industrial plotter, and RAID systems.

Featuring advanced Zero-Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology, the MP650 operates from 90 Vac to 264 Vac. Standard features include global remote on/off control, fan alarm, 12 V/0.1 A auxiliary output, and individual output remote on/off control and remote sense. Thirty-five different output modules are offered in power ranges of 75 W, 150 W, 300 W single-outputs and 100 W dual-outputs. The 300 W modules have active current share, where up to three modules can be paralleled.

The MP650 is the first of three platforms - 450 W (five-slot), 650 W (five-slot) and 1,000 W (seven-slot). (The 450 W/1,000 W front-end will be launched later in March 2005). Pricing in large quantities starts from $300 depending on the configuration, and is available now.
