New Products Jan 08, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Maverick Power Systems (Santa Barbara, CA), a developer of power supply and networking solutions, announced the introduction of the Maverick Powerline Network™, which enables users to create a high-speed local area network using existing ac power wiring. The Maverick Powerline Network makes networking PCs and other devices as simple as finding and plugging into the nearest power outlet, eliminating the need for new wiring. The product combines an Ethernet-to-powerline bridge with a four-port Ethernet switch, and interoperates with products that are HomePlug 1.0 compliant.

"The four-port Ethernet switch has become very common in the home," said Paul Chazen, vice president of sales for Maverick Power Systems. "We have extended the reach of the switch beyond one room by adding the powerline network interface. We are committed to the future of the connected home, and believe the Maverick Powerline Network offers consumers a fast and easy-to-use networking platform."

The Maverick Powerline Network will be available in sample quantities to distributors and retailers in March 2003. The suggested retail price will be $99.
