LTC Announces New LTC3025 Low Dropout Regulator

New Products Dec 14, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) announced its new LTC3025, a very low dropout regulator (VLDO) with input-voltage capability down to 0.9 V. It has a VLDO of 45 mV while delivering up to 300 mA of output current. The LTC3025 can be used for 3.3 V/5 V down to VOUT ≤1.20 V, since it has a 0.4 V reference. In addition, the LTC3025 offers micropower operation with only 54 µA of quiescent current, and less than 1 µA in shutdown, maximizing run time in hand-held applications.

The LTC3025 regulator optimizes stability and transient response with low ESR ceramic output capacitors as small as 1 µF. Other LTC3025 features include ±2% voltage accuracy over temperature and supply load, fast transient recovery, current limiting, and thermal overload shutdown. Its shutdown disconnect feature disconnects both VIN and VBIAS from the output in shutdown mode.

The LTC3025 regulator is now available from stock in a low-profile, six-lead DFN (2 mm x 2 mm x 0.75 mm) package with an exposed pad. The LTC3025 is priced at $1.65 each for 1,000-piece quantities.
