Lambda Adds ZWS150PAF/240PAF Power Supplies

March 14, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) introduced two power supply series that can deliver 200 percent of the nominal current rating for up to 10 seconds. The new 150 W ZWS150PAF and the 240 W ZWS240PAF Series are suitable for powering motors and printers where a peak current demand is needed for a short duration.

Both series accept a wide range of input voltage - from 85 Vac to 265 Vac - and contain active power-factor correction circuitry to meet EN61000-3-2 standards. The units are available with 24 V, 36 V or 48 V outputs, and with peak output powers of up to 480 W. The ZWS150PAF can deliver a continuous 150 W convection cooled at 50 °C, or 200 W with forced-air cooling at 1.5 m/s. The ZWS240PAF yields 240 W convection or 300 W with forced air.

Three different mechanical configurations are offered - open-frame, L-bracket or fully enclosed - with the units measuring 3.15 in x 1.57 in x 8.2 in (150 W Series) and 3.7 in x 1.77 in x 8.74 in (240 W Series) in the open-frame package. The supplies are available with Molex, JST or screw-terminal connections. Both series meet Class B EMI standards - radiated and conducted - with a low earth-leakage current of 0.22 mA at 230 Vac, 60 Hz.

The ZWS150PAF and ZWS240PAF are available now, with prices starting at $120 in single-unit quantities.
