Isolated 1- to 6-Watt Surface-Mount DC-DCs

XP Power today announced three high performance ranges of surface mount (SMD) dc-dc converters rated at 1-, 3- and 6-Watts of output power with single and dual outputs. These are the company's 'next generation' 1W to 6W converters for surface mount applications. They offer higher efficiency and extended operating temperature range when compared to existing models.

The ISB series provides 1W of output power, the ISC 3W and the ISX is a 6W converter. The small size of the converters takes up less PCB space, giving designers more room to add extra features, alternatively to reduce the overall size of their end product. The ISB is a diminutive 0.74 x 0.68 x 0.34”, the ISC measures just 0.94 x 0.71 x 0.32”, and the ISX comes in at 1.0 x 0.87 x 0.4”.

Aimed at board mounted designs in mobile, telecom, portable and battery powered systems that need small SMD components and require isolation and regulation between the input and output, the converters offer a high isolation voltage of 1500Vdc. Featuring extended operating temperature ranges, the ISC and ISX series operate over -40 to +100 degrees C, while the ISB is rated from -40 to +95 degrees C.

Offering 4:1 and 2:1 input voltage ranges, the converters are suitable for applications with inputs ranging from 5- to 75-Vdc. Single-output models from 3.3- to 24-Vdc and dual-output models with ±5, ±9, ±12, ±15 and ±24 Vdc are available.

Specific areas and applications for the converters include automation and process control, broadcast, fixed telecom, instrumentation, networking/datacom/computing, mobile communications and in specialist equipment.

The ISB01 is priced from $13.20 for 500 piece orders and is available from Allied Electronics, Digi-Key, Newark or direct from XP Power and come with a 3-year warranty.
