International Rectifier Announces IRF3711 and IRF3704 Series of MOSFETs

March 07, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

International Rectifier Corp. (IR, El Segundo, CA) announced two new 20V HEXFET power MOSFET families designed to increase efficiency by up to four percent in 12V-input dc/dc converters. The new IRF3711 and IRF3704 Series devices are suitable for multiphase buck converters that power next-generation, GHz-class microprocessors in high-end desktop computers and servers. The devices are also suitable for 12V-input point-of-load buck converters for distributed power architectures in telecom and datacom applications. The 20V IRF3711 Series is designed for best performance in the synchronous FET application, while the IRF3704 Series is best suited in the control FET application.

“IR's new 20V MOSFETs minimize conduction, switching, driver and output losses in 12V-input synchronous buck converter applications, compared to 30V MOSFETs traditionally used in this application," stated Carl Blake, IR's director of technical marketing in the dc/dc sector.

The new 20V MOSFETs come in a variety of surface-mount and through-hole packages. Samples are currently available and production quantities will be available in late March 2001. Pricing in 10,000-piece quantities for US delivery starts at $0.43 each.
