IceFyre Semi Intros SureFyre/TwinFyre Chipsets
IceFyre Semiconductor Inc. (Kanata, ON, Canada) released its SureFyre™ 802.11a and TwinFyre™ 802.11a/b/g chipsets, which deliver RF output power at 54 Mbit/s, peaking at over 1.1W with the chipset. In outdoor point-to-point bridging applications, the resulting link budget delivers 54 Mbit/s over a distance of 2.9km under 2W peak power consumption.
The TwinFyre systems adds 802.11b/g performance, including -30dB EVM in 802.11b and -27dB EVM in 802.11g operation, repectively, over 20dBm average RF output power and 150ns delay spread at 54 Mbit/s. The TwinFyre 802.11a/b/g system components include the ICE5125 MAC; the ICE5825 dual-band PHY, single-chip 802.11a BBP and RF with integrated CCK BBP; the ICE5352 5GHz OFDM PA; and the ICE2501 802.11b/g radio. The SureFyre 802.11a systems components include the ICE5125 MAC, the ICE5351 5GHz OFDM PHY and the ICE5352 5GHz OFDM PA.
The ICE5351 and the ICE5352 are sampling to customers now in the ICE5301A-EVK evaluation kit. The ICE5125 is sampling to customers now in the ICE5100A-EVK evaluation kit. Volume production of the SureFyre 802.11a chipset will begin in the first quarter of 2004. The TwinFyre 802.11a/b/g chipset will begin sampling to customers in the second quarter of 2004 with volume production scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2004.
