ICC Launches New Elpac 80W Open Frame Power Supply Series

February 03, 2010 by Jeff Shepard

International Components Corp. (ICC) introduced two new series of 80W open frame power supplies marketed under the Elpac Power Systems™ brand. The 80W series, designed for both medical (MTB080) and industrial (FTB080) applications, provide a power density of 12.5W per cubic inch and converter efficiencies up to 91%.

The compact, open frame design measures only 2 x 4 x 1" (101.6 x 50.8 x 25.7mm) and is well suited for applications with limited space and little to no airflow. The MTB080 and FTB080 are the latest additions to the company’s portfolio of power supplies.

The MTB080 and FTB080 series deliver 80W of continuous output power with convection cooling which rises to 100W with just 5 CFM of forced air. Both 80W series provide a long hold-up time for reliable operation at more than 28ms at any input voltage. No minimum load is required for the unit to start up and maintain stated specifications.

The power supplies are comprehensively protected against over-voltage, over-temperature, and short circuit conditions. The demonstrated mean time between failure exceeds 200,000 hours. The units operate at full power from 0 to + 50°C and up to + 70°C with derating. Both the MTB080 and FTB080 series utilize a universal input range of 85 to 264Vac enabling worldwide usage.

The MTB080 and FTB080 series meet broad international performance and safety standards for both medical (MTB080) and industrial (FTB080) applications including UL/TUV/CSA 60601-1 and 60950-1. Both models have earned the highest level ENERGY STAR rating (level V) for its high efficiency.

The FTB080 and MTB080 series are priced starting at $28.65 in OEM quantities of 1,000 and models are available to ship today. Each 80W open frame power supply is available in single output voltages ranging from 9 to 24V.
