Gresham Power Offers New Strongbox Front-End

Gresham Power (Salisbury) announced a new power-conversion front-end for telecommunications and cellular infrastructure applications. Gresham's new Strongbox is the first product to offer 1,800W of 48Vdc power from a single 1U, 19in rack unit with options for full-redundancy, hot-swap and battery backup.

Each Strongbox hub can hold up to three modular power converters from a range of over 20 different configurations. Universal input ac types with power-factor correction and dc input modules with either 36Vdc to 72Vdc or 18Vdc to 32Vdc input ranges are available. The ac input modules offer standard single-output voltages of 48Vdc, 24Vdc or 12Vdc at 600W output, which may be configured to provide a full 1,800W of output power or in N+1 or N+2 redundant format. Other ac input models are available for rectifier/battery charging use, or for battery backup operation and microwave transmitters. Two other ac input modules provide hot-swap capability with outputs of either dual 5Vdc, or for telecom applications triple outputs of 3.3Vdc, 5Vdc and 12Vdc.

The Strongbox system offers very low output noise and meets EN55022 Class B and FCC 68 Part 15, and is fully safety agency approved and CE marked. All modules are fully protected against overload, short circuit, over-temperature and over-voltage, and the system will operate without power de-rating over the 0°C to 50°C temperature range.
