FastIRFET Family Delivers Industry Leading Efficiency for Synchronous Buck DC-DCs

International Rectifier Corp. (IR) has added the 25V FastIRFET™ family of power MOSFETs for dc-dc synchronous buck applications including advanced telecom and netcom equipment, servers, graphic cards, desktop, ultrabook and notebook computers. The FastIRFET family features IR’s latest generation silicon in an industry-standard PQFN package that delivers benchmark power density for discrete dc-dc converters. The family includes the IRFH4201 that offers on-state resistance (RDS(on)) as low as 0.7 milliOhms, and the IRFH4210D and IRFH4213D monolithic FETKY® devices designed to reduce ringing and further improve system efficiency.

The new family consists of 2 series of parts, the IRFHM4234 and IRFHM4226 in a PQNF 3.3X3.3 package and rated for 40A and the IRFH4201, IRFH4210D (FETKY), IRFH4210, IRFH4213D (FETKY), IRFH4213, and IRFH4234 in a PQNF 5X6 package and rated for 100A. Capabilities of the 100A parts range from the IRFH4201 with an RDS(on) of 0.7 milliohms and a Qg of 46nC to the IRFH4234 with an RDS(on) of 3.5 milliohms and a Qg of 8.2nC.

Optimized for 5V gate drive applications, IR’s FastIRFET devices work with any controller or driver to offer design flexibility while delivering higher current, efficiency and frequency capability in a small footprint. The devices are available in industry standard 5x6 and 3.3x3.3mm PQFN packages that feature an environmentally friendly, lead-free and RoHS compliant bill of materials. Pricing for the FastIRFET family ranges from US $0.32 for the IRFH4234 to US $0.96 for the IRFH4210D in 10,000-unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately.
