ERNI Introduces New Board-to-Board SMC Connectors With Interlocking Capability
ERNI Electronics has expanded its popular 1.27mm SMC connector family with the introduction of a new board-to-board right-angled SMC connector with an integrated locking system. The locking system can withstand the normal vibration and shock loads that occur with daily use, and still enable the connector to be disconnected without using any tools.
Both the female (Type Q) and the male (Type B) connector is available with SMT termination. The plastic housing is constructed of high temperature-resistent LCP material, which makes the connector suitable for lead free reflow soldering processes. The connectors are available in tape-and-reel packaging for automated pick-and-place assembly.
The SMC Type Q right-angled female and Type B right-angled male connectors with locking system are currently available in a 12-pin configuration. Other pin configurations are available upon request. Special contact lead design guarantees exact placement of the connectors on the PCB, and the coplanarity of the contacts guarantees a secure soldering process. The integrated solid metal SMT mounting clip secures the connector on the PCB for reliable mating and unmating.
Typical applications for this new connector family are additional extender cards for data or software, or PCB connections where interlocking is requested.
ERNI is also offering dual-row IDC Type B female connectors with integrated locking latches. The new connector range is available in 12, 26, 50, 68 and 80 pin configurations. The design allows simultaneous manufacturing of the insulation body and latches in one step, which results in higher and more consistent quality. The latches are designed to snap into existing notches on the mating male connector, and the insulator also features an alignment guide for the exact positioning of each wire in the ribbon cable.
Prices start at 0.80 USD for volume purchases.
