Enatel Offers 1U Ultra Compact DC Power System

July 27, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Enatel Ltd. has released their new 1U ultra compact dc power systems, ranging in power output from 1.8kW, 33.3A up to 4.0kW, 83A at 48Vdc. Utilizing Enatel’s intelligent modular SM30 series controllers and modular rectifiers the standalone 1U ultra compact dc power systems have been designed to be easily installed into a standard 19" rack. Low voltage battery disconnect, and several dc load distribution options are available. These systems are well suited to meet the requirements of telecommunications applications such as access nodes and small base stations.

The SM30 series of microcontroller based supervisory modules provide the control and monitoring functions for both the Enatel RM series rectifiers and CM series dc-dc converters.

The devices monitor all power system conditions including dc voltage, rectifier current, battery current, battery temperature and distribution failure. Visual notification of alarm conditions are given by LED’s and a 4 line x 16 character alpha numeric display mounted on the front of the module, with remote notification being enabled by relay contacts. Fitted with a USB communications port which allows easy downloading of configuration files for multiple site installations. TCP/IP and SNMP options are also available.

The RM2048 is the latest release in Enatel’s range of what are described as efficient and reliable, modular rack mount Rectifiers providing a maximum of 2.0kW, 41.7A power output at 48Vdc. These modular rectifiers have been designed to be easily paralleled to provide redundancy or higher power outputs and allow for mounting of up to four rectifiers in a 1U x 19" rack space. With unrivalled power densities and "plug and play" installation allowing for quick and easy installation and system expansion. These robust, reliable rectifiers are suitable for use in modern telecommunications networks.
