Elpac Announces Power System 150W Commercial External Power Supply

February 19, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

International Components Corp. (ICC) launched a new series of high-efficiency ac-dc external power adapters. Marketed under the Elpac Power Systems brand, the FWA150 is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio of power adapters. The company states that the new 150W series delivers an industry-leading converter efficiency of up to 94% and best-in-class power density of 5.5W per cubic inch.

Expanding upon the FWB100, the FWA150 series is also designed for applications that demand performance in a higher wattage. Much like the FWB100 series, the FWA150 minimizes internal heat dissipation which is said to result in twice the lifetime expectation and lower operating costs. Full-rated continuous and peak power is available at all output voltages and over the entire input voltage and frequency range.

The power supply has a universal ac input (85 - 264Vac) with active PFC to meet EN61000-3-2, -3 and single outputs of 12, 15, 18, or 24Vdc. It is offered in a compact frame of 191.98 x 62.16 x 38.65mm (7.56 x 2.45 x 1.52 inches) that is convection cooled and needs no internal fan. This unit also includes over-temperature, over-voltage, and over-current protection as standard features with maximum noise and ripple limited to less than 1% peak-to-peak.

The FWA150 series features an Energy Star Level V efficiency rating with more than 90% efficiency in active mode and a no-load power consumption of less than 0.4W. This series also meets CE, EN, and IEC standards and can be designed to meet non-standard output voltage and connectivity requirements. ICC can also design a 100% custom solution to meet specific OEM requirements and private label markings.

The FWA150 is priced at $61.96 in OEM quantities of 1,000.
