Diotec’s SMD Bridge Rectifier Supplies Up To 2.3A

New Products Oct 02, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Diotec introduced the new SMD bridge series B40S2A to B380S2A. With output currents of up to 2.3A in SO-DIL package, the company claims that these parts are currently the most powerful SMD bridge rectifiers on the market. The high power rating is achieved by an extremely low forward voltage drop of below 0.95V at 2A. Also unique is the peak forward surge current of as much as 72A for an 8.3ms sine half wave.

Typical applications for these rectifiers are power supplies for industrial and consumer goods such as set top boxes, where up to now not powerful enough SMD versions have been available. Due to reduced forward power losses, the parts can be also used at high ambient temperatures, e.g. in lamp ballasts. Finally, the high surge current is an important parameter for lightning protection in telecommunication circuits. Start of series production of these devices will be in the beginning of 2007.
