March 02, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Commergy Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland) launched its new Breeze 400 W mid-power, high-efficiency power supplies based on Commergy's proprietary, patented power topology targeted at 1U and 2U server, networking and raid applications.

The Breeze 400 W features a power density of 20 W/in³; a 90 Vac low-line efficiency of 89%; and available output-voltage variants of 12 V/33 A, 24 V/17 A, 48 V/8.5 A. The design is initially offered in standard package starter format in a 3 in x 5 in x 1.37 in (76 mm x 127 mm x 35 mm), open-frame version offering 12 V at 33 A. The industry-leading package includes 400 W of main output power, 5 V at 2 A of standby power, current share and medical spacing, and leakage compliance. Particular attention has been paid energy efficiency by providing a low 86%) efficiency in the 25% to 50% load range.

Variants in the pipeline include high-efficiency PC power supplies and hot-swap topologies with I2C control up to 800 W based on the same Breeze topology.
