Celestica Expands Volant Series Product Family

April 19, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Celestica Power Systems (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) announced the expansion of its Volant Series of dc-dc converters with new output-programmable, 5 A and 10 A, non-isolated, point-of-load solutions. The new 5 A model is available in 12 Vin (NEA005) and 5 Vin (NCA005) versions, while the new 10 A model is available in a 12 Vin version (NEA010). The models offer flexibility with a programmable output voltage through use of an external resistor.

Using industry-standard pin configurations, the Volant Series is available in both SIP and SMT packages for highly dense systems requiring optimum board real estate. The new 10 A SMT package is available in a 1.30 in x 0.53 in x 0.33 in form factor, while the SIP package dimensions are 2.00 in x 0.327 in x 0.50 in. Boasting an even smaller form factor than Celestica's other Volant Series converters, the new 5 A SMT package is available in 0.80 in x 0.45 in x 0.24 in, and the SIP package in dimensions of 0.90 in x 0.40 in x 0.22 in.

The new 5 A and 10 A Volant Series dc-dc converters are available now. Pricing at 1,000 units ranges from $8.55 to $12.97, based on output current and packaging.
