AVX Intros New MLCCs with BME System Technology
AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC) has developed a unique base metal electrode (BME) system featuring a soft termination layer for its multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). The new BME technology with soft terminations improves temperature cycling performance of the MLCCs and reduces failures associated with mechanical flexure, making the new devices suitable for use in harsh automotive applications.
The soft termination material is positioned between the nickel/tin plated overcoat and the copper contact material, giving the capacitors stability under stresses of changing temperature. The devices are available in case sizes from 1812 down to 0603.
Pricing for the new MLCCs vary depending on case size. Samples are readily available with lead times from 8 to 10 weeks.
