Astec Introduces High-Efficiency BK60C DC/DC Converter Series

New Products Jul 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA) announced the addition of high-efficiency BK60C models to its high-density dc/dc converter product line. With an expanded temperature range of -40 to 100 degrees C, the new single-output models feature improved transient response with stability in high-frequency applications, as well as fixed switching-frequency operation, and no-load, high-capacitance limits.

Astec's new converters are available with 36V to 75V input, and choices of 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V output. They are suitable for use in telecommunications and data communications applications as well as automated test and measurement equipment. The modules work especially well in applications where high capacitive loading and low impedance loads are necessary. They feature under-voltage lockout and over-temperature protection shutdown. The converters meet the EN41003 isolation requirements of 1,500V and, when fitted with external filters, conform to FCC Class B and EN55022 emission standards. The BK60C has industry-standard pinouts, a 2.3in x 2.4in footprint and is modular. It provides 40A and 150W of output power at 80- to 90-percent efficiency. Other features include low output ripple and noise, remote sensing, and TTL-compatible remote-enable with positive or negative polarity. The units feature safety agency certifications from UL, CSA and VDE.

Priced from $100 in quantities of 1,000, the BK60C models are currently available.
