Arques Technology Intros AQ9260 Voltage Controller

April 05, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Arques Technology (Austin, TX) introduced the AQ9260, a two-output voltage controller that combines a switching and linear regulator to provide both VDDQ core supply and VTT bus termination voltages to DDR-SDRAM memory. The AQ9260 simplifies power management design while providing high performance, high density and low cost. The device is designed for a wide range of compact, high-performance applications using MCH and DDR memory.

The high-efficiency, synchronous-buck controller for VDDQ and MCH features constant on-time regulation to simplify loop compensation and provide transient response. Loss-less MOSFET RDS(on) current sensing and over-current protection maximizes efficiency. The VDDQ supply has a selectable power-save mode that minimizes battery drain during low-output current operation. The linear VTT supply is a low dropout regulator with integrated MOSFETs, which is capable of sourcing or sinking up to 3 A peak current for the VTT termination voltage of DDR memory.

The AQ9260 is available in a compact MLP-32 package, priced at $1.00 each for 1,000 units. Evaluation boards available.
