APT Offers New Degree Ratings for D/DQ Family of FREDs

July 18, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Power Technology Inc. (APT, Bend, OR) announced that new junction temperature degree ratings of 175 °C for its D and DQ families of FREDs. Designed for use in switch-mode power supplies, alternative energy inverters, motor drives, and other industrial applications, the new diodes can be used as snubber diodes; hard-switched, power-factor corrected boost diodes, and free-wheeling diodes.

The new FREDs feature an improved temperature margin and reliability at the same power level; an increased RMS current capability at elevated junction temperatures; a new 175 °C junction temperature; low leakage, thermal stability, and low static losses; platinum doping with low leakage and improved reliability at high temperatures; and availability in RoHS-compliant forms by adding a "G" to the end of the part number.

Detailed data sheets for the 175 °C rated FREDs are available now, and may be downloaded from APT’s website or obtained from the factory.
