October 29, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Anpec Electronics Corp. (Taiwan) announced the new APA4835 power amplifiers, which are capable of delivering 2.8W output into a 3-ohm load with less than 10 percent THD+N. These devices are targeted at notebook and desktop computers, multimedia monitors, and portable devices.

The amplifiers feature a dc volume control and selectable gain, and are capable of producing 2.8W (2.2W) into three with less than 10 percent (1.0 percent) THD+N. The volume control has an attenuation range of 0dB to -105dB. The amplifier operates from 3.3V to 5V and draws a low supply current of 13mA. Shutdown current is rated at 0.7µA. The device is housed in a 28-pin TSSOP, with enhanced thermal padding.
