Alpha Expands AlphaCell Battery Offering to Meet Renewable Energy Needs

July 06, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

Alpha Technologies has expanded its AlphaCell battery offering to include the new RE Series valve regulated lead acid batteries designed specifically for renewable energy cycling applications.

"Alpha has developed the AlphaCell RE batteries in response to customer demand for multiple orientation options and high-cycling capability," commented Paul Shmotolokha, VP of International Sales. "Alpha continually strives to provide customers with quality products that fit their unique powering needs."

The AlphaCell RE Front Terminal battery is intended for renewable energy storage in either grid-tied battery backup or off-grid power system applications. The front terminal access was designed for ease of maintenance and installation and offers reduced profile for higher energy density in cabinet or rack applications. The low calcium Lead/Tin alloy plates allow for long life in both cycling and float applications.

The AlphaCell RE Top Terminal battery is also intended for renewable energy applications in either grid-tied battery backup or off-grid power system applications. The robust plate technology provides for extended life cycle and a computer generated grid design is optimized for high power density.

Both models are UL-recognized components that feature Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) technology for efficient gas recombination of up to 99% and freedom from electrolyte maintenance. The AlphaCell RE line also features a multicell design for economy of installation and maintenance, and the low profile terminals with threaded copper alloy inserts reduce maintenance and increase safety.

"The AlphaCell RE line is another example of Alpha’s efforts to provide a comprehensive product line," added Shmotolokha. "As a result of the combined capabilities of Alpha Technologies and OutBack Power, we now offer completely integrated renewable energy power systems."
