Absopulse Releases New 15W dc-dc Converter Designed for Tough Environments

July 31, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. announced the release of the RWY 15, a recent addition to the company's rugged, field-proven RWY series dc-dc converter designed for railway and other harsh-environment applications. This 15W high-density converter is fully encapsulated in a thermally conductive MIL-spec. silicon rubber compound to ensure immunity to shock, vibration, humidity, moisture, salt and airborne contaminants.

Conduction cooled via a base plate, the unit performs to full specification at temperatures from -40 to 70°C. It meets EN55022 Class B and EN50121-3-2 (conducted and radiated) EMI, EN61000 as well as EN50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock. The standard RWY 15 design delivers 12V or 24Vdc, and accepts single inputs of 24, 36, 48, and 72V, or 110Vdc with wide supply voltage ranges. Other input/output requirements can also be accommodated. Built-in protection circuits include inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection, over-voltage protection and current limiting with short circuit protection. Combined line/load regulation is ±1.5% combined from zero load to full load and output ripple/noise is less than 1% peak-to-peak.

Measuring 2.3" x 7.1" x 2.4" (including terminal block and flanges) and weighing under 1.35lb, the RWY 15 is priced at US $124 in quantities of 100.
