Absopulse Adds 250W, Encapsulated DC-DC Converter For Heavy Duty Applications

New Products Oct 31, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. announced its new PDC 250 – a recent addition to the company’s line of dc-dc converters designed for operation in harsh environments. Full encapsulation in a thermally conductive MIL-spec. silicon rubber compound ensures immunity to shock, vibration, humidity, moisture, salt and airborne contaminants.

The unit performs to full specification at temperatures from -40 to 70°C with installation on an appropriate size heat-sinking plate. It is housed in a compact 4.2 x 2.75 x 7.5" enclosure.

This 250W converter delivers a single output of 12Vdc/20A, 24Vdc/10A, 36Vdc/17A, 48Vdc/5A or 72Vdc/3.3A. Input ranges include 125Vdc (105-140V) or 250Vdc (210-280V), and the unit is capable of continuous operation within these ranges. Other input and output options are available on request.

The PDC 250 is filtered to meet EN 55022 Class A EMI with wide margins and is designed to meet EN 60950 and related standards. The unit features inrush current limiting and surge protection on the input. Output protection includes current limiting with short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown with self-resetting. Combined line and load regulation are ±1% from no load to full load and efficiency is a minimum of 80%.

The PDC 250 is priced at US$371 at quantities of 100.
