The demand for power supplies capable of reliably working under harsh environments has been growing. In order to meet this need, Mean Well Enterprises Co. Ltd. has introduced the 600W HEP-600 series of ac-dc power supplies and the HEP-600C series battery chargers. These two series employ high efficiency circuit design that delivers working efficiencies up to 96% for HEP-600 and 95.5% for HEP-600C. Under free air convection cooling, they can operate at ambient temperatures between -40 and +70 degrees C. The unit body is an aluminum case, and the interior is filled with heat conducting silicone so that HEP-600 and HEP-600C can highly reliably work in a high temperature, highly humid, highly dusty, and highly vibrating (withstand 5G vibration) environments.
HEP-600 and HEP-600C both accept the full range 90- to 264-Vac input power. HEP-600 provides nine models with different dc voltage between 12V and 54V; HEP-600C, with 3 stage charging curve, provides output options of 14.4V, 28.8V and 57.6V (the three different voltages lead-acid batteries adopt often as charging voltage). Other functions and characteristics include over-current protection (HEP-600, constant current limiting mode), short-circuit protection, over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, built-in 5V standby power, built-in remote ON/OFF control, no load power consumption <0.5W at remote off, and so on.
These series comply with international regulations such as UL, CUL, TUV, CB, and CE. Suitable applications for HEP-600 are outdoor telecommunication equipment, signboards, billboards, and humid and dusty industrial control, whereas HEP-600C fit the applications for robotic lawn mowers, electronic transportation vehicles, recreational crafts, security systems, and so on.
