10-Position High-Reliability Power Connector

September 02, 2015 by Jeff Shepard

Harwin is showing two new interconnect products for the first time at the world's largest defense exhibition, DSEI, in September. Visitors to the Harwin stand S4-166 can see Harwin's new Datamate coaxial connector and also have a preview of the forthcoming M300 10-position high density power connector series to be launched at the beginning of October.

Harwin is extending its M300 hi-rel power connector series with a new 10-position interconnect in response to customer demand. The M-300 10-position connector handles currents up to 10A, is highly durable and tolerates extreme temperatures from -65 to +175 degrees C. Designed for rugged environments and able to withstand twice the number of operations as older generation products, the M300 10-position connector is particularly suited to UAV and robotics applications.

Harwin’s Datamate 2mm pitch, board-to-board and board to cable high performance/high reliability connectors are designed for applications where the connector must not fail, including satellites, undersea applications and aerospace. Datamate interconnects feature proprietary four-finger beryllium copper contact technology which ensures integrity of contact in the most severe conditions, including high vibration loads, severe shock, high G forces and other harsh environments. Harwin now adds the new Datamate Coaxial connector to this proven product family. The new Datamate Coax standard layout, multiport range with 6GHz, 50Ω contacts has a single body molding and withstands 500 mating cycles under even the harshest operating conditions.

“DSEI is the largest and most prestigious event in the defense and hi-rel sector, so provides the ideal showcase for launching our latest products aimed at that market.” comments Ben Green, Harwin Technical & Marketing Communications Manager. “We are seeing a considerable number of design–ins of Harwin connectors at present in the UAV market, which is fast-moving and developing rapidly. Particular application areas where we are successful include flight controls, engine management, infra-red guidance systems, communications and cameras.”
