March 31, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

ZMD AG (Dresden, Germany), a leading ASIC/ASSP company specializing in design, production and marketing of high-performance, mixed-signal application-specific integrated circuits and application-specific standard products, celebrated the grand opening of its new corporate campus in Dresden, Germany.

The firm celebrated the event with around 150 invited guests and dignitaries, including chess-legend Garry Kasparov, state governor of Saxony Georg Milbradt, and Dresden mayor Ingolf Rossberg. In his welcoming remarks, ZMD CEO Thilo von Selchow emphasized the indicator effect of the new campus, which represents a symbol of the company’s continued future growth track.

ZMD invested approximately €17 million in the construction of a new design center and three additional production and administrative facilities. The new buildings, which have been in use since late 2003, raised the total usable floor space at the Dresden location to over 100,000ft². In addition, the design center, which is equipped with the latest technologies, creates the physical capacity for up to 100 new positions. Currently ZMD employs around 650 people at its Dresden facilities, and nearly 700 worldwide.
