ZAP Buys Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Rental Firm

September 28, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

ZAP (Sebastopol, CA) announced that it has acquired the most visible electric car rental fleet of its kind in the world. ZAP plans to rent the fleet of electric rental cars at various locations, featuring two locations on the main Casino strip in Las Vegas, NV. CEO Steve Schneider says that ZAP's marketing plan emphasizes rentals because customers will have an opportunity to try ZAP's new vehicles as they are introduced.

"ZAP will be putting its new ZAP LUV™ line of products into our new rental locations to attract more customers, an important reason why we are seeking out these prominent rental outlets," said Schneider. "Now business travelers and tourists from around the world have an opportunity to evaluate ZAP vehicles for their daily transportation. Public demand for our products is growing and ZAP will be expanding its rental fleet to include our ZAPPY® scooters, SEASCOOTERS™ and other ZAP products."
