Venturi to Launch Fetish Sports Car at US LA Auto Show

December 28, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Venturi Automobiles (Monaco) announced that it will debut its Fétish electric coupe in the US at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show, which starts January 5, 2005. Venturi previously released a prototype of the Fétish at the 2002 Geneva International Motor Show. The company plans to build only 25 copies of the Fétish, which will sell for $660,000 each. Assembled in California, the Venturi Fétish will be sold only in Los Anegeles, Tokyo and Monte Carlo.

The Fétish offers a top speed of 105 mph, as well as the ability to go 217 miles on a single charge. An empty Fétish battery can be recharged for one minute for a driving distance of about one mile. The car's layout involves an engine mounted behind the passenger compartment, a race-car-like configuration that allows for weight distribution, handling and road-holding. It also features a lightweight carbon chassis. The Fétish weighs only 2,425 lbs, can reach a speed of 14,000 rpm, generates 241 HP, and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under five seconds.
