September 16, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Texas Instruments Inc. (TI, Dallas, TX) has acquired Graychip (Palo Alto, CA), a company known primarily for reconfigurable digital converters used in communications systems. Graychip employs 14 people. Terms of the company's deal with TI were not released.

"This adds another link in the total signal-processing chain that TI offers to customers," stated Gregg Lowe, vice president of Texas Instruments' high-performance analog communications products unit. "Graychip's in-depth systems knowledge in the high-speed signal-processing domain, coupled with their strong portfolio of digital converters, provides complementary capabilities to TI's data converters and DSPs."
