Test approved for IEEE 2030.5 Application Profile for Smart Energy Management

The Consortium for Smart Energy Profile 2 Interoperability (CSEP) today announced it has approved the first official SEP 2 Test Harness for conformance testing and certification. With this approval, QualityLogic's SEP 2 Functional Test Suite and Ad Hoc Testers are now ready for use by the industry to help ensure interoperability of products implementing the IEEE Standard 2030.5-2013 (SEP 2) Application Protocol.

SEP 2 enables home energy information, control, and management applications, as well as utility communications to devices in the home, via wired and wireless connections using Internet Protocol. The process of qualifying the QualityLogic test harness for SEP 2 was extremely thorough, taking more than a year and 10 separate interoperability test events.

“CSEP’s primary mission is to aid delivery of interoperable SEP 2 products by defining standard testing for SEP 2 conformance and certification,” according to Edgar Figueroa, CSEP Chairman and president and CEO of Wi-Fi Alliance. “Having a qualified test harness means the industry may now proceed to administer uniform certification programs for SEP 2 products through our Sponsor members.”
