SemiSouth Announces Addition Of Industry Veterans To Commercialize Silicon Carbide Products

SemiSouth Laboratories, Inc., a clean energy enabler specializing in silicon carbide (SiC) based power management, announced the appointments of Chris Thompson and Dan Schwob as Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Sales, respectively. Thompson and Schwob are said to bring decades of global experience in the solar, wind, and power electronics markets to help SemiSouth capitalize on their new products.

"Dan is a veteran power semiconductor sales and marketing executive, having built sales organizations and market share at our target customers in solar, IT and Telecom Power markets while at IXYS. His global experience and industry relationships with customers and sales channels will be a big asset," said Kenney Roberts, CEO of SemiSouth.

"We are equally excited to have Chris come on board. Not only does he bring a wealth of global experience developing and launching products for the solar, wind, and datacenter industries, but as a past customer of SiC devices, he understands the high value they can offer in many of our target markets," said Jeff Casady, CTO and Founder of SemiSouth.

Thompson has over 15 years of experience in sales and marketing and product development in renewable energy, datacenters, UPS, and other high growth markets. Prior to joining SemiSouth, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Solar Inverters for Advanced Energy Industries. He has held earlier positions as Vice President of Engineering and Product Development at Xantrex Technology and Director of Datacenter Power Solutions at American Power Conversion.

Schwob joins SemiSouth with over 30 years experience in sales and marketing of power electronics and semiconductor devices. Prior to joining SemiSouth, he served as Vice President of Marketing for iWatt Corp. and VP of Sales at IXYS.
