Schaffner Group to Acquire WEE Electrotest

May 16, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Schaffner EMC Inc. (Edison, NJ) reached an agreement to acquire WEE Electrotest (Wertheim, Germany). With the acquisition, Schaffner will continue to provide a complete range of EMC components, EMC instrumentation and test systems for radiated and conducted interference, and advanced power-supply test systems. The consolidation of the two companies was effective as of January 1, 2002.

Schaffner EMC President Eamon Rooney said, "This acquisition significantly enhances the strategic positioning of Schaffner. Both companies have similar client portfolios in aviation and telecommunications, strengthening our position in these industries. In addition, the companies have complimentary technologies, most notably in the use of power electronics. This improves the Schaffner Group’s capabilities as an integrated solutions provider of test equipment, especially to the growing automotive market. These capabilities, along with the access of WEE products to Schaffner’s worldwide distribution network, will open up numerous new opportunities for growth."
